Location History
Deep in the heart of Huntsville, Texas lies a long and winding road known as Demon's Road. Also known as Bowden Road, this rural stretch of highway has a chilling reputation, rumored to be haunted by spirits and plagued by unexplained phenomena.
The history of Demon's Road is shrouded in mystery, and it is hard to separate fact from fiction. According to local legend, the road was once home to a community of freed slaves who were brutally murdered in the late 1800s. Others whisper of a Satanic cult that once called the area home, or illegal activities like bootlegging and drug trafficking.
Despite the lack of concrete evidence, the stories of hauntings and strange occurrences on Demon's Road have persisted over the years. Visitors have reported seeing apparitions, hearing strange noises, and experiencing other unexplained phenomena.
Some of the most popular tales associated with Demon's Road include the sighting of a mysterious woman in white who is said to walk along the roadside, as well as the appearance of ghostly children who are said to play in the nearby woods. Other reports include strange lights and sounds, as well as feelings of unease or dread when driving down the road at night.
Martha's Chapel Cemetery is a historic cemetery located in Huntsville, Texas. The cemetery is situated on a scenic hilltop and features a variety of grave markers and headstones, some of which date back over 150 years.
The cemetery is named after Martha Ann Oatman, a young girl who died in 1852 at the age of 13. Her father, James Oatman, donated the land for the cemetery and named it in her honor.
Martha's Chapel Cemetery was the final resting place for many of the early settlers in the Huntsville area. The cemetery contains the graves of soldiers who fought in the Civil War, as well as numerous other prominent figures in the town's history.
Over the years, the cemetery has fallen into disrepair, with many of the headstones becoming damaged or unreadable. However, a restoration effort was launched in the 1980s, and the cemetery has since been cleaned up and restored to its former glory.
