Location History

Old Town Spring is a historic district located in the north of Houston, Texas. The town was founded in the mid-1800s as a railroad town, and it quickly became a major commercial center for the region. The area was named after a nearby spring that was used for drinking water and irrigation.

Old Town Spring was incorporated in 1906 and became a hub for the timber industry, with many sawmills and lumberyards operating in the area. The town continued to prosper throughout the early 20th century, with numerous businesses, churches, and schools being established.

In the 1960s, Old Town Spring fell into decline as the lumber industry waned, and many of the businesses and residents moved away. However, in the 1970s, a group of local business owners began an effort to revitalize the area and turn it into a tourist destination.

The Old Town Spring Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Today, it is a popular destination for visitors to Houston, who come to shop at the many boutiques, antique stores, and art galleries in the area. The district features over 150 restored buildings, many of which date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

In addition to its shopping and dining options, Old Town Spring is also known for its many festivals and events, including the Texas Crawfish and Music Festival, the SpringFest Wine and Art Festival, and the PetFest and Paws Parade. The town's historic homes, churches, and other buildings also make it a popular spot for photographers and history enthusiasts.

Paranormal History

One of the most well-known haunted locations in Old Town Spring is the Wunsche Brothers Cafe and Saloon, which was established in 1902. The building has a long and colorful history, and there have been reports of unexplained noises, voices, and apparitions within the building.

Another haunted building in Old Town Spring is the Cypresswood Antique Mall, which is said to be haunted by the ghost of a young girl who was killed in a nearby accident. Visitors have reported feeling cold spots or seeing unexplained movements or shadows in the building.

The Old Town Spring Historical Museum is also rumored to be haunted, with reports of strange sounds, footsteps, and other unexplained activity. The museum is located in a former bank building that was built in 1905 and is said to be haunted by the ghost of a former bank employee.
